About Krissy

I’m Krissy Anne Waters, a writer and researcher based in Spokane, Washington. My focus is investigative and editorial journalism: reported features, analysis, essays, and opinion.

I’m interested in power, money, technology, psychology, and human behavior, especially the decisions and institutions that shape everyday life.

Before this, I spent three years as a legal assistant working with debt-defense and disability cases. Reading dense, consequential documents taught me to look closely at the evidence and think about what a reader actually needs to know.

Much of my commissioned work is ghostwritten or delivered through agencies. This portfolio brings together the samples I can share, with my role identified alongside each project. I also write independent research under the name Hidden Systems.

How I work

Every assignment starts the same way: find the primary sources, separate what is documented from what is inferred, and decide which details actually change what the reader understands. I would rather hand back three accurate paragraphs than ten padded ones.
